OUR SPACE

Studio Yukari is a washitsu (和室), a Japanese tatami room located in Stepney Green.

Set in a Grade II listed building, our space spans over 1,400 square feet with an open architecture leading into a large wooden deck terrace overlooking the vibrant east London skyline. 

We offer a unique centre for immersive and authentic experiences in Japanese art, culture and tradition. Our beautiful tatami room is suitable for classes, workshops, exhibitions and bespoke events in diverse areas including: 

  • Chado (i.e. tea ceremony) 

  • Ikebana (i.e. flower arrangement) 

  • Kitsuke (i.e. kimono fitting) 

  • Shibari (i.e. Japanese rope bondage)

  • Art

  • Photography & filming

    The above capacity is calculated based on useable space in the tatami room only, excluding the terrace and other non-useable space.

There is a separate self-contained entrance leading directly to Studio Yukari. The staircase provides direct access to the tatami room and the terrace on the second floor.
